چکیده

In the initial papers reporting the thermal instability of chemically bonded stationary phases on irradiation with a high-power neodymium laser, Raman scattering intensity in the region 2285 to 1130 cm was found to depend on the density of coverage of the silica matrix with alkyl ligands. Further research focused on the dependence of the growth of UV absorption in this region, on heating of the stationary phase, on the density of coverage of the silica matrix with alkyl ligands capable of aromatization. For thermal modification of the RP-2 stationary phase impregnated with paraffin oil a quantitative dependence was found between the growth of absorption in this UV region and the paraffin oil-content of the chromatographic bed. In this study the relationship between the thermally induced increase in UV absorption of RP-8 and RP-18-type stationary phases and Raman-scattering intensity in the aromatic region when the stationary phases are irradiated with a high-power neodymium laser is discussed. The results obtained confirm the assumption of a linear relationship between the growth of UV absorption in this region by the stationary phase as a result of its thermal modification and the density of coverage of the silica matrix with alkyl (octyl or octadecyl) ligands capable of aromatization.

Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering of Crystal Violet with Low Concentrations Using Self-Assembled Silver and Gold-Silver Core-Shell Nanoparticles

The active substrates in surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy were prepared through self-assembly of nanoparticles on functionalized glasses. Colloidal silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were prepared chemically in two different sizes by reduction of AgNO3 using trisodium citrate and sodium borohydride. Gold–silver core–shell nanoparticles were also prepared to compare between the o...

Nonlinear Responses and Optical Limiting Behavior of Ag Nanoparticle Suspension

In this study, the nonlinear optical properties and optical limiting performance of the silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in distilled water are investigated. The nonlinear absorption coefficient of the colloid is measured by the Z-scan technique. The optical limiting behavior of the AgNP suspension is investigated under exposure to nanosecond laser pulses at 532 nm. The results show that nonlinear ...

Chemically bonded stationary phases that use synthetic hosts containing aromatic binding clefts: HPLC analysis of nitro-substituted polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

The synthesis of hosts with improved binding affinities for nitroaromatic guests is described. Association constants for several host-guest complexes were measured in chloroform solution and ranged over three orders of magnitude. Two hosts were covalently linked to silica gel to produce chemically bonded stationary phases for HPLC. The use of these phases for HPLC analysis of nitro-substituted ...

Optical Properties of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Separated in a Density Gradient; Length, Bundling, and Aromatic Stacking Effects.

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) are promising materials for in vitro and in vivo biological applications due to their high surface area and inherent near infrared photoluminescence and Raman scattering properties. Here, we use density gradient centrifugation to separate SWNTs by length and degree of bundling. Following separation, we observe a peak in photoluminescence quantum yield (PL ...

همبستگی تخلخل با زبری توسط طیف پراکندگی سطوح نانویی سیلیکان متخلخل

Reflection spectra of four porous silicon samples under etching times of 2, 6, 10, and 14 min with current density of 10 mA/cm2 were measured. Reflection spectra behaviors for all samples were the same, but their intensities were different and decreased by increasing the etching time. The similar behavior of reflection spectra could be attributed to the electrolyte solution concentration which ...
